Dev Log #4(Future plan)

Over the past few weeks, our team has created a basic plan for next semester’s project, clarified the roles and tasks for each member, made minor adjustments to the design, and developed a basic concept for the first prototype we’ll create next semester.

Next Semester's Schedule

We decided to divide the semester into two major phases.

  • Part 1:
  • In the first phase, we will focus on developing the hub area of our game, prioritizing art assets, narrative, and puzzle design. The goal is to complete the first prototype by around Week 6 and conduct playtesting in Week 7.
  • Part 2:
  • In the second phase, we will shift our focus to building the mushroom area, emphasizing sound design and narrative development. During this period, we will continue working on art and puzzles, but these may not be our primary focus.

At the same time, we further clarified the key roles within our team through a flowchart. For each position, we assigned multiple members with clearly defined primary and secondary roles. For example, in certain positions, one member serves as the primary lead, while another acts as a support. This structure ensures that the primary lead takes responsibility for major decisions and has the final say in that area, while the support member assists, collaborates with the lead, and helps carry out the associated tasks. Base on this, we can have a better role structure for next semester.

Additionally, we introduced some ideas for visual effects inspired by the game Animal Well. For instance, we considered adding dynamic elements such as falling leaves and swaying movements to make the environment feel more lively and engaging, rather than static and motionless.
